I've known Bart for a long time, and for a long time Bart has been making videos. Smell the Crete was the first creation of Bart's that I watched. I knew right then and there that the boy had talent. A way to tell a story so that everyone understood it, regardless if they were into it or not. Skinned Alive is not your average skate flick. As a matter of fact, it's more of a "lifestyle" movie, than a skate flick. It looks at the history of tattoos and skateboarding in Americana. There are stories and interviews with some of the most influential tattoo artists and skateboarders today. Eric Dressen, Neil Heddings, Fred Smith, Jason Jesse, The Godoys, Jack Hammer Josh, Danny Romo and the list goes on. As the viewer you are aloud a glimpse into the secret society of tattooed skaters and the artists that tattoo them. This documentary allows you to really see what the whole "tattoo skater" lifestyle is all about. Did I mention the killer skate footage that goes along with the film. There is a lot of never before seen footage of guys like Neil and Jason Jesse. Let's not forget Bill Danforth and Kyle Yaganimoto.
